Spa Gift Vouchers: The Convenient Christmas Gift

2012 has been a strange year. For all the jubilation and activity of, well, jubilees and the Olympics, there’s been just as much doom and gloom speculation and phrases including ‘double dip recession’ and ‘job cuts’ cluttering up news headlines. For large swathes of Europe summer failed to arrive – or, at least, stay for longer than a day or two, and now, surprisingly, it’s almost time to bid farewell to this year and move on to the next.

Inevitably as the end of the year approaches so too does Christmas and the realisation that it’s coming around quicker than an express train on roller skates. Conversations are already being hijacked by talk of the festive season and the gloats of the varying stages at which other people’s Christmas shopping is. If you’re reading this with a sense of creeping despair at the incomplete – or even un-started – state of your own Christmas shopping then here’s something that just might help you when it comes to spending so much time wondering what to get someone that you run out of time: spa gift vouchers.

Let’s face it; there’s always at least one person for whom the ideas for the perfect gift simply aren’t there and heading to the shops for inspiration results in nothing more than miserable wandering from store to store before settling on something that might just as well do. A spa gift voucher is the ideal way to combat just such problems while showing someone that you genuinely care – even if, really, you’re not all that bothered.

How to Choose Your Wedding Cinematographer

Your wedding is unique. At least it should be. So having it on tape is a pretty important part of it, perhaps the only one that will remain after everything’s done. Except for your spouse, of course. Having said that, it should come naturally to newlyweds to at least try and employ someone who knows what he’s doing about having it taped. Unfortunately, that’s not the case in most cases, hence this article.

The title is correct: cinematographer. Because that moment surpasses by far the show and tell stuff that accompanies most moments in life. It’s beyond newsworthy. It should become your favorite movie.

Start by checking out the offer. Do not check the man, check his work. If you like one wedding in ten, move on. If you like five in ten give it a thought and if you like nine in ten that’s your guy. You should like the way he tells the story, the way he cuts the scenes, the way he embeds audio with video etc. Overall, you should feel you’re on the same page. And make sure he’s a PROFESSIONAL, not a part time amateur in search for a summer job. No disrespect to those, but it’s your wedding.

UAVs to Monitor US Soil and Beach Erosion

Well, I am very pro-UAV. That is to say I believe the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and Unmanned Aerial System technologies are what is needed for our future not only for military purposes, but also for civilian use, and even here domestically. Unfortunately, there is a whole group of people who have been scared away by popular Hollywood movies such as; The Terminator – especially the latest in that series where the main characters were trying to defeat the future “Skynet” system which also was the artificial intelligent super computer running all the UAVs busy trying to take out all the humans.

Perhaps it is for this reason that so many people have become conspiratorial theorists on the whole concept of unmanned aerial vehicles in domestic airspace doing surveillance on individual citizens. And make no mistake the paparazzi are already using very small helicopter type drones to get in close and personal with their digital cameras in monitoring celebrities. Okay so, I understand people’s concern, but that doesn’t mean we should throw away these wonderful technologies for all the domestic uses.

In the Journal of Remote Sensing there was an article titled; “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) for Monitoring Soil Erosion in Morocco,” by Sebastian d’Oleire-Oltmanns, Irene Marzolff, Klaus Daniel Peter and Johannes B. Ries, (Remote Sens. 2012, 4, 3390-3416; doi:10.3390/rs4113390) ISSN: 2072-4292 – which was worthy of note. The abstract states; “This article presents an environmental remote sensing application using a UAV that is specifically aimed at reducing the data gap between field scale and satellite scale in soil erosion monitoring in Morocco.”
